DPI launches DirpaGuard 388 – A dual-function soil repel / release agent for 100% polyester fabrics.
For quite some time, consumers have had limited choices with regards to performance of oil repel / release agents for textile performance fabrics. The end-use product typically would have excellent oil repellency but very rarely would exhibit good performance for release.
While fluorinated repellents can provide protection against penetration of the oils, it is only for a short time. This is especially true for oils. The oil must be removed immediately and must not be forced into the fabric with wiping or rubbing. Oils that seep below the protection into the substrate are very difficult to remove. One of the most difficult oils to remove is Dirty Motor Oil. After many months of R&D, DPI is now excited to offer DirpaGuard 388.
DirpGuard 388 is a fluorinated C6 dual-function oil repellent and release agent. It provides exceptional release properties while also providing intermediate protection needed to keep water, oils and alcohols (soils) from penetrating the surface.
Automotive fabrics are especially a market that can benefit with the application of DirpaGuard 388. Oil repellency has become more and more a preferred performance characteristic of an OEM. With greater need to provide long-lasting durable products to consumers, it is important to provide products with good cleanability as well.
DPI has been able to achieve phenomenal results for the ease of release of dirty motor oil from 100% polyester fabric. Other industries such as table linens may find use for DirpaGuard 388 as well.
